Ease of Use

1°F/C Increment LED Temperature Display

The Volcano Digit is an easy desktop vaporizer to use, since it has a big, bright LED display on the front that displays the exact temperature, whether you want it in Fahrenheit or Celsius. If you need to switch between the two temperature measurements, all you have to do is hold down the plus and minus buttons on each side of the LED display at the same time and the device will switch them.

Volcano’s solid and easy valve system make for a somewhat customizable experience, depending on how much work you want to put into maintaining the machine.

Solid Valve System

The solid valve system is composed of high end stainless steel and heat resistant plastic. You can also use customizable balloon sizes with these. It will save you money in the long run, but you’ll need to clean it on a regular basis to make sure it works effectively. The mouthpiece and the chamber are higher quality because of their construction. You’ll be able to spend maybe $5 to $15 per year replacing the balloons if you choose this over the easy valve system.

Easy Valve System

If you don’t want to deal with the extra maintenance of the solid valve system and you have the extra money to spend (you probably do, let’s be honest), you’ll want it instead. You might end up spending between $25-$50 per year on balloons, but in all reality, it’s not that much more in comparison. At least you won’t have to mess with cleaning the valves all the time. The only real downside to the easy valve system is that you only have a single balloon size that you can use with it.

Price

The Volcano Digit is more expensive than the original Volcano Classic unit, but there’s no question about whether the extra money is worth it. If you want a more exact temperature setting in degrees (instead of an unintuitive 1 through 9 selection) and you want the auto shut off timer, you’ll pay more for them. The Volcano Digit is around $120 more expensive than the Classic version.

The Volcano Digit costs around $599.

2 Different Valve Systems

Easy Valve System

The easy valve system offers 1 balloon size and is, well… easier to deal with than the solid valve system as far as maintenance. A little more expensive to use, but less hassle.

Solid Valve System

The solid valve system lets you use multiple balloon sizes, so you can customize them to your wants and needs. It requires cleaning, but costs less to operate.

How To Use

Desktop vaporizers like this are a little bit more involved to use than vape pens or portable vaporizers, because they are bigger, bulkier, and use balloons to collect vapor.

Using The Volcano Digit With The Easy Valve System

Open the filling chamber at the bottom of the bag by unscrewing it and then fill it with the material of your choice. Close the chamber. Heat the Volcano up to the temperature that you desire. Then place it on top of the vaporizer. Make sure it locks into place. Let it rest for a few seconds, then press the AIR button.

Take the mouthpiece off of the balloon and stretch the balloon out so it is long and vertical, then connect the valve at the bottom of the balloon to the filling chamber. Make sure it locks into place. Fill the bag with vapor, then remove the balloon and the filling chamber from the vaporizer. Turn AIR off.

Remove the valve of the balloon from the filling chamber and it will automatically seal the bag and prevent the vapor from escaping. Place the mouthpiece on the balloon, making sure it also locks into place. Place your mouth on the mouthpiece, press lightly, and inhale.

Using The Volcano Digit With The Solid Valve System

One big difference with the solid valve system is that addition of the balloon material, because you can use it to make your own bags. Other than that, it follows the same basic process as using the easy valve system above.

Start the process of heating the Volcano first.

Fill the filling chamber with your material of choice; when you’re using the solid valve system, you want to fill up the chamber a little less than halfway. Grind your material with a Zeus grinder; it will always grind your material to the perfect consistency every single time. You can use other grinders or even a coffee grinder, but you won’t get the same consistency that you will with a Zeus.

Because the Volcano is primarily a convection vaporizer, this is why you want to make sure the unit is up to temperature before you place the filling chamber on top of the Volcano unit. Once the unit is up to temperature, place the filling chamber on top of the unit, then connect your balloon to the chamber. Press the green button on the bottom right side, then the fan will blow the hot air through the filling chamber and into the bag. It takes about 30 seconds to fill a standard sized bag. Remove the filling chamber from both the unit and the bag, then connect the mouthpiece to the bottom of the bag. Press your lips against the mouthpiece and inhale to use.
